Showcasing DC and Dave’s Choice – Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank

I’ve known DC since college. She and Dave raised their family in a wonderful house in a family friendly neighborhood. But now that the kids have grown, their priorities have changed and they wanted to downsize what they had so that they could spend more time enjoying life and less time maintaining and taking care of a big house and yard. I helped them find a great new place, walking distance to shops, restaurants and the waterfront, and helped them sell their wonderful family home.

When I asked them which charity they would like me to support, they chose the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank, where they have donated their time and resources for many years and run the yearly Turkey Trot. They love helping the local community and feel that donating, food, time and money to the food bank helps their neighbors. Building community is key to enriching the area that you live in and it shows with Dave and DC’s family.

The Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank is committed to providing quality food, hygiene items, emergency supplies, and resource referrals to anyone in need in Washington State. They strive to help people in need in a way that allows the customers, staff, volunteers, and donors to maintain a strong sense of dignity and respect for one another. In this seemingly affluent community, the need is well hidden, creating a misconception that it doesn’t exist. The high cost of living actually causes the need to expand into middle and low-income households where tight budgets can mean having to choose between basic needs like housing, food, healthcare, and transportation. The organization is intertwined with many other partner organizations in the community. These partnerships allow them to create a special space that is full of caring, nurturing people who are working towards meeting the needs of others.
