Showcasing – Rosie and Vinnie’s Choice – Palestine Children’s Relief Fund

Rosie and Vinnie were moving back to the area after a brief stint in Cleveland. We wanted to find a cute home with character near transit for commuting, with good schools that their child might attend in a few years. We looked at the area map to cross reference the train, light rail and bus options with schools and home size. It turned out the sweet spot was North Tacoma. We found a darling mid-century modern home with loads of charm and solid construction.

When I asked Rosie and Vinnie which charity they would like me to support, they chose the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. This group brings humanitarian and medical aid and relief to the children of the Middle East, regardless of their nationality or religion. Since 1991, this volunteer based non-profit has sent over 2,000 children abroad for free medical care in local hospitals and has sent thousands of doctors and nurses to bring medical aid and perform surgeries to children that would otherwise not be able to get access. PCRF’s impact also includes establishing two pediatric cancer departments in Palestine, a new PICU and pediatric cardiology department in Ramallah, and many more critical projects to sustain the local healthcare system. With a desire to put all of the donor monies towards medical relief supplies, they do not spend money on advertisement so they rely on word of mouth for their support.
