Showcasing Mike and Violet’s Choice – Mary’s Place

Mike and Violet were ready to begin the next chapter in their lives. Their daughter graduated from high school so this was their opportunity. After years of clearing pine needles, shoveling snow, and dealing with power outages, they felt it was time for a change. The country can be a wonderful place to raise a family, but there comes a moment when an easier lifestyle feels right. When I asked them which charity they would like me to support, they chose Mary’s Place.

Mary’s Place is a Seattle and King County nonprofit with a simple, urgent mission: make sure no child has to sleep outside and help families find a safe path back to stable housing. They support women, children, and families experiencing homelessness through emergency shelter, mobile outreach for families in crisis, and prevention help like rental assistance to keep people housed in the first place. With dignity and equity at the center of their work, Mary’s Place pairs immediate safety with practical, caring support that helps families move from surviving day to day to building a more secure future.
